The bog oak knife is naturally coloured that way, the black is part of a carbonisation process which occurs over hundreds, even thousands of years of the wood being preserved in a peat bog without oxygen.

These wooden knives have been finished in a coat of Danish oil which is food safe and protects the wood from absorbing too many stains and aids water repellence.
